About Eilly Yang, PMHNP-BC

A little about me…

I am a triple board-certified nurse practitioner. I obtained my psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner certification from Johns Hopkins University, whose hospital rank No. 2 in psychiatry nationwide and school of nursing rank No. 1. I am also a board-certified family nurse practitioner and women’s health nurse practitioner. Prior to getting my Master’s degree, I worked in the neonatal intensive care unit after graduating UCLA with my bachelor’s. My clinical training sites include Johns Hopkins Hospital, Stanford Hospital, UCLA, Cedars Sinai, Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, and more.

After experiencing several different fields of medicine, I found my way into psychiatry, where my heart belongs. I have a great passion for mental health and a desire to help my clients improve their overall well-being. Nothing gives me more joy than when a client tells me they can see the world in color again, that they can sleep better, resume old hobbies, and set short and long-term goals. I use a holistic, whole-person approach to collaborate with you, meaning that we not only focus on medication, but also on nonpharmacological methods like lifestyle and behavioral changes. I was once a yoga teacher so also emphasize the benefits of mindfulness practices.

What attracted me to psychiatry was my own struggle with anxiety and depression growing up, as well as a tumultuous upbringing. I remember my rebellious teenage years with body image issues and perfectionistic tendencies. It took a lot of courage, mistakes, and self-awareness to finally seek the help that I needed through therapy and medications. Through my own journey into mental wellness, I was able to find empathy, compassion, and understanding for others. None of us are perfect and that is completely okay! Together, we can work towards a journey of healing to find a more balanced and peaceful state of mind.

Outside of work… you can find me baking cakes for friends, painting, practicing yoga, exercising, checking out new coffee or Boba shops, and snacking on Oreo cookies.
